To keep its name in the market and maintain its competitiveness, especially in uncertain times, I spoke to Peggy Grigolo, Director of National Sales at Portfolio Hotels & Resorts. She explained Portfolios recent sales blitz and its impact on the expansion of the company. Peggy works with hotels to create strategic alliances among our properties sales teams and customers. She works on three sales blitzes a year for the hotels along with planning and executing trade shows.

 We have seen more cancellations on the hotel stays, declines in competition rates and various other indications that were are indeed heading towards, if not already, in a recession period. But what does this mean for the hotel industry? Graham Hershman, Chief Operating Officer of Portfolio Hotels & Resorts kindly took some time to answer some questions and give some insight into this tough time.

 

 I was asking what he thought of the financial condition in the hotel industry and it did not seem to paint a pretty picture. The response was short and to the point ‘Declining, especially in the last 60 days’.
