9 a.m., December 13th, the day had only just begun and people were lined up outside the Naper Ballroom for a magical morning. All around me were children running and playing, obviously very excited as Santa was on his way to town! Before the arrival, breakfast was served and included biscuits and gravy, fruit, bacon, eggs, donuts, pastries, bagels, juices and coffees. The ballroom was set up with tables scattered throughout the room for people to sit. However, the best seat in the house was centered on stage next to the Christmas tree and reserved for the guest of honor… Santa and his elf! more…

Recently Carol Schroder (Director of Sales Development) and Deborah Lusby (Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Sheraton Gateway/Radisson LAX) visited China to take part in the CITM (China International Travel Mart) trade show. The event is the largest professional travel show in Asia. This is the first year that China has opened up its travel visa for residents of China to visit the United States. Before this, access was only granted to those attending events such as agricultural and industrial tours. To be given the opportunity to attend such a great occasion under these new conditions was really something new and exciting. People from all over the world attend the CITM yearly. The state of California had the largest delegation from the United States at the trade show. more…

On November 16th, 2008, Graham Hershman, Portfolio’s Chief Operating Officer and Erin Geraghty from The Harp Group attended the 1st annual International Hotel and Restaurants Awards (IRHA) ceremony in Beverly Hills, LA. The entire event was a glamorous occasion, with some of the world’s best hotels being represented and the awards host, none other than Mark DeCarlo of Travel Channel USA fame! And if this wasn’t glitzy enough, the whole event was held at the Beverly Hilton… home of the Golden Globes!!
