The Orchard Hotel

The Orchard Hotel goes above and beyond of the hotel’s expectations! A medical building located nearby the Orchard experienced a small fire, in which they had to evacuate the building including taking out patients post surgery.

The medical staff knew there would be a long wait outside, in which they inquired if they could stay a little while in The Orchard Hotel. Stefan Muhle, the General Manager at the Orchard quickly accommodated the patents with roll-away beds. The Hyatt Regency Woodfield, located in Schaumburg, Illinois has partnered up with the Salvation Army to deliver Hammers to Haiti.

The idea all started when Frank Buchberger who is Director of Facility Management at the Hyatt was watching the devastation take place in Haiti, and had noticed that the people he saw had nothing but their hands to dig through the rubble. Frank realized they need the basics, which then he started the drive. He then called the Salvation Army for their support and they were quickly on board.

Hammers along with other basic tools can be brought to the Hyatt Regency daily between the hours of 8am to 5pm starting now though March 15, 2010. The engineering department at the Hyatt has not only donated to the drive but has been taking up their personal time to help get the tools ready to be shipped out.

Networking Hub featuring at the InterContinental

If you have not yet been though the InterContinental O’Hare’s art gallery well here’s your chance! “Crossroads” is a new exhibit at the InterCon, celebrating Chicago and it’s connectivity to the rest of the world. “Crossroads”, will be open to the public, and features approximately 60 pieces in several mediums of art by 30 local and international artists.

Sara Schnadt’s is one of the local artists at the exhibit and featuring a piece called “Networking Hub”. In this piece it has yellow and silver strings that stretch from a large shiny ring that go on forever, stopping at a mirror corner only for a moment before it continues onward. more…
